Name meaning:

Grishipol - rough bay/pig farm (Norse - Grishapool).


Alex and Seonaid farm Grishipol on the north shore of the Isle of Coll facing across the Sea of the Hebrides towards Barra. The farm is a mixture of coastal machair and inland peat moorland and is home to corncrakes as well as farm stock. They run highland Cattle and Blackface sheep on this rugged landscape.

Points of Interest:

On the farm is Dun Dubh, a cliff top hill fort, and also the site of the battle where the Macleans defeated the McNeils of Barra in the 16th century.
