Achanelid Farm
PA22 3AT

Name meaning:

Achanelid - hind field.

Lorne farms at Achanelid on one of the southern headlands of Cowal with dramatic views over the Kyles of Bute. His 1400 Blackface sheep enjoy the benefits of the warm gulf stream waters that allows grass to grow longer in the year.

Points of Interest:

Hill sheep are easier to sheer due to them rubbing part of fleece off by walking over heather. South Hall farm used to be part of main Earls of Campbell estate until the crash in the 1930s. There are also old settlement ruins on farm, as well as grouse.
